Nestor Veloz Passalacqua (2011) – Social Services & Graduate School, Public Policy

I am currently working for the County of San Luis Obispo in the Department of Social Services; I assist participants applying for benefits, coordinating initial appointments, and all logistics behind the reception of state and county benefits for marginalized and general populations.

My degree in Ethnic Studies complemented my eagerness to help, to understand the needs and the policies that impact minorities, as well as the mainstream population. The degree impacted my professional goals, as I decided to pursue a career where I can become a tool for justice and personal accountability. Furthermore, the degree has inspired me to be open-minded, to search for solutions, and to be the change that is needed in society.
