About aa Valdivia
aa (pronounced ah-ah) Valdivia is a scholar, educator, and facilitator whose work explores decolonial praxis, food sovereignty, environmental justice, and Black and Xicanx feminist geographies. Drawing from their Afro-Boricua and Mexican heritage, aa's teaching and scholarship center community-engaged learning, collective well-being, and transformative education.
aa lives, speaks, listens, and thinks from the corazón, the heart.
Grounded in relationship and reciprocity, aa approaches teaching as a practice of collective learning and transformation. As a queer, nonbinary educator, aa designs participatory learning experiences rooted in critical consciousness and community self-determination. They believe knowledge is cultivated through relationship, reciprocity, and shared inquiry, and are committed to cultivating spaces where diverse ways of knowing, learning, and being can flourish.
